However, none could have prepared her for the shattering news she received in the summer of 2020: the untimely death of her beloved son, Nick. Approximately seven months after Nick’s passing, Kay channeled her overwhelming sorrow into advocacy. She became a relentless voice for holding drug dealers accountable for the lives they destroy. Over the past four years, Kay passionately advocated for vital legislative reforms to combat the pervasive fentanyl crisis.
Currently, Kay plays a pivotal role in facilitating a Zoom support group alongside two licensed therapists and two other mothers. Together, they provide invaluable support and solidarity to families grappling with the aftermath of losing loved ones to fenanyl poisoning. This group not only offers a safe space for shared grief but also empowers participants to navigate their individual journeys of healing.
Kay’s dedication extends beyond the support group. She has become a formidable advocate, actively engaging with lawmakers at both state and federal levels to push for policies that prioritize law enforcement measures against drug trafficking.
