From the depths of addiction to a powerful voice for change, Thomas Wolf’s story embodies resilience and unwavering spirit.
In 2018, Tom found himself battling homelessness and addiction in San Francisco’s Tenderloin District. The grip of heroin and fentanyl had taken hold, leading to a cycle of arrests for drug possession and other offenses. A three-month jail term served as a wake-up call, but it was a transformative 6-month inpatient treatment program that truly became Tom’s turning point.
Through intensive therapy and support, Tom began to chip away at the underlying issues that fueled his addiction. He confronted past traumas and developed healthier coping mechanisms. This period of self-discovery wasn’t easy, but with unwavering determination, Tom found the strength to reclaim his life.
Today, nearly six years clean and sober, Tom is a dedicated Recovery Advocate, using his personal experience to champion changes in drug policy. Tom’s voice resonates with policymakers, as he calls for changes to the radical approach drug policy has taken over the past few years in the United States.
Beyond his advocacy, Tom has rebuilt a fulfilling life. He reconciled with his family, a process that brought immense healing. Now, a happily married father of two, Tom’s days are filled with the joys of family life and the unwavering commitment affect positive change within our legislative system. Tom’s story serves as a powerful reminder that even in the darkest of times, hope and a brighter future are possible.
